Desirée Calero

I came into the world on August 11, 1973, two years after my parents, Concha Calero and  Rafael Rodríguez, got married. Since then there has not been a single day in my life  without Flamenco

My name is Desirée Rodríguez Calero, I hold a degree in Business Management and  Tourism Activities and I am proud to belong to a family of artists that has been a source  of inspiration and doctrine for many others.

Living in Flamenco.

I grew up in Córdoba, although for professional reasons it didn’t take long for me to pack  my suitcase and spread my passion all over the world. New York, Brazil, France, Tokyo or  Greece were some of the places I traveled to show the public what I do best, Living in Flamenco.

Polka dots, castanets, shawls and fans entangled with the sound of the guitar of “El  Merengue” and the overflowing art of the great Concha Calero forged me a career full of  successes that earned me recognition in Festivals, TV Contests and stages of all the world.

I taught International Courses within the Guitar Festival to disseminate Flamenco  together with the dancer Blanca Del Rey.

Being born Flamenca in Córdoba makes you a privileged Ambassador of your City and I  take that commitment with enthusiasm and dedication.

First National Dance Prize from Pilar López

In 2000 I received the highest award in Flamenco with the First National Dance Prize from Pilar López, teacher and reference of classical Flamenco.

For more than 20 years I have shared the stage with my father “El Merengue” and a cast  of artists from the Dance Company that he directed for the Tablao Flamenco “El Cardenal”  in Córdoba.

Shortly after, I launched the cultural offer of my City, Flamenco Insights, presenting my  activity as a unique experience that allowed an exclusive immersion in this artistic  discipline.

During all these years I have learned that all creation has a gestation process and that with the passage of time, all metals turn into gold
